Perth’s restaurant scene has well and truly caught up with the culinary landscape of our inter-state cities. With so many suburban strips popping up and having their time in the limelight, it is too hard to keep up.
There is no shame in wanting to impress your date with a cool venue, ambient atmosphere and an even better wine list. So whether you have just matched or it’s your anniversary, here are the Best Date Night Restaurants in Perth.
Will Street
With the last few years of international travel restrictions, we’re thankful to see restaurants bringing delicious international cuisine, locally. Will Street is one restaurant that will take you on a journey across the Pacific one bite at a time. Showcasing an elevated Indian Asian menu, this Leederville restaurant is revered for its smoked eel in betel leaf and its creamier-than-your-usual oysters harvested from Albany. Paired with classic Western cocktails with spicy Eastern notes, you’ll see why you need to book in advance.
Pinchos
On the other end of the spectrum, Pinchos is a failsafe for casual, plenty-to-share Spanish tapas. Share the cliff notes of your life story over small share plates and keep the sangria flowing. Plenty of seating styles to choose from, but we suggest dining alfresco and people-watching along Oxford Street, Leederville. Parking might be a dime a dozen, but that is all the more reason to share a ride and arrive together; it’s more romantic anyway.
Franco Forte
Whilst this specialty spaghetti haus takes its culinary influence from Italia, Franco Forte is inspired by the micro-restaurants of Frankfurt, Germany. High quality but affordable, this gem down Williams Lane in Northbridge has mastered a small selection of spaghetti and antipasto dishes. Don’t be discouraged by the busyness, the unpretentious staff are super speedy and get your plate to you swiftly.
Vincent Wine Bar
Wine bars are really having their moment in Perth right now. After trying nearly all of them, we keep heading back to the cusp of Highgate and Perth at Vincent Wine Bar. Perhaps it’s the variety of experiences you can have, an afternoon, minimal intervention vino in the courtyard, sitting curbside like the Parisians do or scooch closer to your date inside as you converse over the hum of this bustling bar. Impeccable wines, seafood orientated and oh so chic… need we say more?
Mummucc
Head out Wembley way for a gorgeous, top tier date night restaurant in Perth. Classy CBD vibes take on the suburbia, with its interior and alfresco, Mummucc is an ideal spot for pairs and small groups. Their menu changes regularly and focuses on the mastery of simplicity. Think wood-smoked sardines or tiger prawns, beef tartar and a delectable, rotating pasta menu. It’s related to the suburban pizzeria Monstrella three doors down. You can even order pizza from there to your table if you’re looking for more casual date vibes.
Bread in Common
Skip the small table date idea entirely and opt for long table communal dining at Bread in Common in Fremantle. This architecturally award-winning converted warehouse surprisingly manages to feel cosy in its vast open spaciousness. Their locally sourced seasonal menu hosts outstanding seafood, and like their namesake, the bread is pretty darn good too. They even churn their own butter in-store, and you can take a loaf for the road. What date wouldn’t appreciate that? Much more practical than flowers.
