That’s it, the last of the winter weather. It’s gearing up to be our favourite time of year. A night sipping cocktails in Perth isn’t likely to be a cheap one, so you want to ensure you are residing at the best venue in town. Give that tired Sunday sesh spot the flick, and hit up one of the Best Summer Cocktail Spots in Perth.
SKØL
If you are looking for a coastal ambience, impressive but not arrogant, SKØL in Scarborough is first on your hit list. Their neighbourhood vibe is ideal after a swim at Scabs, still sandy and thirsty for a beverage. You might have seen their cocktails on your Instagram feed already, the Kópakonan cocktail ft. peach bitters and yuzu juice served in a spiral shell. Just one of the many creative cocktails to devour, we are keen to try the maple bacon-infused old fashioned next time. Food wise, their tasty tapas and charcuterie boards will keep your hunger satiated.
Pogo
Mt Hawthorn is quickly becoming the foodie haven of Perth, with Pogo providing a modern Australian menu with heavy influences from the Middle East and the Mediterranean. The food is designed to be shared, but your cocktails of choice are all yours. Reviews are glowing for the Aleppo Margherita with Syrian chilli-infused tequila. Did we mention they offer bottomless brunch, including cocktails? Whilst it mightn’t be the cheapest bill to split, their real food and rich flavours are worth it.
The Beaufort
It’s alarming how many times we have been to The Beaufort, considering it only opened in April. This Mt Lawley staple is the sister venue to Tonic + Ginger in Fremantle. We love the similar touches to the Old Synagogue, offering competing vibes in the same venue. Knock back your cocktails in the open wine garden, rooftop jungle, hidden speakeasy or quintessential no-nonsense pub. And if you’re looking to stray from the usual Aperol Spritz or Espresso Martini, order the White Chocolate Pornstar Martini… you’ll thank us later.
The Quarter Acre
Our South of the river friends, we haven’t forgotten about you. For easy going pub vibes with an international comfort food style menu, The Quarter Acre in Applecross is the best pick for cocktails when you have your kiddos joining you. Their dedicated play area (backyard and sandpit) will keep the little ones busy whilst you responsibly knock back another. Their super accommodating service ensures our return, second to the Hey Babe cocktail ft. rose vodka, lychee and lime.
La Cabaña
Last but not least, wherever you are located in Perth, a trip to South Freo is worth it for this fine establishment. Accepting walk-ins only, don’t be intimidated by a long line; leave your name and number at the door and go for a stroll down to South Beach. Their ingenious West-Aussie take on coastal Mexican flavours means you’ll be delighted with an explosion of flavour with every sip. Our faves—Tommies is the OG, but we’re also partial to the Paloma. Floral and peppery, sweet and zingy thanks to the grapefruit soda and house-made tequila. Bites wise, the corn tentacles, ceviche and tacos are to die for…. In fact, now that we think about it… everything on menu is damn good.
